Pastor at Faith Church
Bob grew up in Orlando, Florida, and attended St. John's College in Winfield, Kansas, and Concordia Senior College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, graduating in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Hebrew and minoring in church music. He attended Christ Seminary-Seminex in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating in 1977 with a Master of Divinity degree. He was ordained on the Feast of Transfiguration, 1979.
Bob has served as Assistant Pastor at the Lutheran Church of the Covenant in Maple Heights, Ohio, from 1979 to 1982, and as Associate Pastor and Cantor at University Lutheran Church and Campus Center in Gainsville, Florida, from 1983 to 1999. An accomplished musician, he has served as Dean of the Gainsville (FL) Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and was a Founding Member of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians.
Bob and Alexis were married on June 28, 1985, and have two daughters, Aimee (born 1988) and Amanda (born 1990).
Pastor Carr was called to Faith Lutheran Church in May, 1999.
Organist, Choir Director
Bernice was born in Camden, New Jersey. She graduated from Glassboro State College with a B.A. in Elementary Education and taught kindergarten in Oaklyn, New Jersey, for five years. In 1974, she moved to Canton, Michigan.
Bernice served as organist at St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Canton from the parish's beginning until she came to Faith in 2002. In her 28 years at St. Michael's, she also was director of the Children's Choir, Lay Minister to Seniors, and a Stephen Minister. Bernice is also the director of The Sounds of Canton, a community-based choral organization for seniors.
Bernice joined the staff of Faith Church in May 2002. Her responsibilities as Minister of Parish Music include playing for services and directing a vocal choir and a handbell choir.
Bernice has a son, Matthew, daughter-in-law Kim, and a grandson. She resides with her kitty, Toby.
Administrative Assistant, Newsletter Editor
Beth Hare is Faith's administrative assistant and editor of the church's monthly newsletter, The Vine & The Branches. She has been working in the church office since December of 1998.
Beth has been a member of Faith since she and her family transferred from Covenant Lutheran in Detroit in 1972. At various times since then, she has taught Sunday School and Weekday School, sang in the choirs, played in the handbell choir, and participated on various boards.
Beth has two daughters and a host of pets. She enjoys gardening and reading in her spare time.
